What is Citizenship Fingerprinting?
If you’re applying for Canadian Citizenship, IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) may send you a fingerprint request letter to complete a criminal record check through the RCMP.
At Lotey Fingerprinting, we’re RCMP-accredited and authorized to capture your digital fingerprints using Live Scan biometric scanners, ensuring quick, clean, and secure submission of your fingerprints to the RCMP.
When is Fingerprinting Required for Citizenship?
Fingerprinting is typically required after IRCC completes your initial citizenship application review and needs more information for background verification. You’ll receive a formal request with instructions.
You may be asked for fingerprints if:
- IRCC needs to confirm your identity
- There is a similar match in the criminal database
- Additional background screening is needed
